Shop Chloe + Isabel, thanks to my sorority sister Tori

Hey, readers!

So for those of you who aren’t new around here, you know I like to chronicle some of my super cool friends, like Bailey and her YouTube cover songs & Kate being a Serengetee rep .

I love to share my friends cool accomplishments with you, readers. So when one of my awesome sorority sisters, Tori, opened up her own Chloe + Isabel shop, I couldn’t help but share the link to her store with all of you.

Check out Tori’s Chloe + Isabel shop!

Tori and I were in the same group to help recruit girls for our sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Last year, Tori’s first year in ADPi, we realized how similar we were thanks to our sassiness. Then, thanks to recruitment, we grew so much closer and I now consider her one of my closest confidants and will always be down for a pedicure and Chipotle date to talk about boys.

Check out what Tori had to say on the company, her shop, and her goals:

Chloe + Isabel is an online jewelry store with the mission to empower entrepreneurial women through a supportive business platform at which the merchandiser was at the center. The main mission is to “empower the next generation of entrepreneurs through social retail.

I was inspired to become a merchandiser for c+i because of my entrepreneurial spirit. I’d love to own a business one day, but as a college student, that is very difficult. C+I gives me the freedom to sell as much as I want, when I want while giving me the skills that I will later use when I have my own business

Let me tell you, she is definitely sparkling and shining!

And since Tori is a true Sparkle and Shine fan, she even wanted to remind all of you to sparkle with this Chloe + Isabel post:

Plus I have news just for you, readers! Tori is hosting a pop-up shop today!

My Monday Musts

monday musts

Happy Monday, readers!

Hope you all enjoyed your first day of summer yesterday and your Father’s Day.

Before I even jump into this week’s edition of My Monday Musts, I just wanted to say a big, big thank you for how supportive everyone was for my most recent personal post about Father’s Day. When putting myself out there like that, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As I said in the post, I mainly talk about college life, Greek life, celebs, fashion/beauty, etc. and not so much my personal feelings. However, I felt that this was just something that I really needed to share with the world.

After publishing the piece, I got an overwhelming amount of comments and e-mails from readers, as well as text messages and phone calls from friends. I broke my records for amounts of views in hours. Most importantly, I was able to shed some light from a different perspective and help others in a similar situation express feelings that they haven’t been able to.

So big, big thank you to everyone who shared the post, send me warm wishes and comments, or even just reading it!!

I also wanted to share with you all how much I am hustlin’ for all of you!

I’ve recently grown an obsession with vloggers (which is video bloggers,in case you didn’t know). I’ve been watching their videos at all hours of the night and coming up with different post ideas for you. I’ve been checking out their different social media platforms, seeing what types of posts are most popular for them, and more.

(My favorites include Sarah Belle and Caitlin Bea.)

I’m seeing how they are putting on their lipstick (quite figuratively in their makeup tutorials) and how they are hustling! After seeing this ADORABLE pin below, I made it my phone background as a reminder.

What it comes down to is this – I love blogging and I love all of you.

I am so thankful for the opportunities that have risen from this and the only way I can repay you for checking out Sparkle and Shine is with awesome posts. This is why, for the rest of the summer, I am making the ultimate pinkie promise of posting multiple times a week and bringing you some of the best content I have ever given you.

The only way life will sparkle is if you do, readers.

Why I Compare Valentine’s Day & Father’s Day

Hey readers,So there is a holiday coming up (and no I’m not talking about the fact that Queen Taylor Swift released her first single 9 years ago today), but Father’s Day is on Sunday.

1124

For the most part, I keep Sparkle and Shine about fashion, makeup, celebs, and other lifestyle topics. However, my recent vlogging obsession made me decide to share something a little bit more personal today.

So here we go…

#TBT to February 14th when timelines across the country were filled with romantic posts about lovey dovey relationships. Though single, I still smiled (with my pint of Ben&Jerry’s in hand during a Res Life duty shift, of course) at the posts. Good for these people to be happy. Everyone deserves happiness.

Then, my eyes start to stumble across another trend – people complaining about “single awareness day” and how they had no one. Woe as me pity party type of posts that were more meant to be shared over a bottle of wine with your gal pals than broadcasted on social media.

I’ve always ranked Valentine’s Day with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in the holiday category, a special day to celebrate the ones you love everyday. It’s like a love ice cream sundae and the holiday is the just maraschino cherry on top.

But on Father’s Day, social media posts will be flooded with Instagram pictures and tweets about why each person has the best dad out there and how they’re lucky to spend the day with them.

006
I’ll have an Instagram post too, but instead of saying how much I can’t wait to spend the day with my father, I’ll be sending my Father’s Day hugs and kisses up to heaven. My daddy passed away 5 years ago this month from cancer.

So now, take this back to the Valentine’s Day post – do you know how horrible it is to see someone complaining about how they have no one to spend that day with, which will ultimately change, when I spend a similar day honoring the day with someone I no longer have and won’t get back?

To put it bluntly, it’s pretty sucky.

But, you don’t see me complaining and won’t see me complaining. You also won’t be seeing anyone who lost their father on Father’s Day or mother on Mother’s day complaining. You won’t see anyone who is being raised by a single parent, or a foster parent, complaining.

daddy_2

So why do I compare the two? I take my negative with a grain of salt knowing that there is happiness in the salt.

On Valentine’s Day, the only boy(s) I cuddled was Ben&Jerry (moose tracks flavored, of course). But I knew that one day, that won’t be the case. That I will be spending my February 14 with a boy one day who makes me smile and will make me feel like I put the stars in the sky. So in the end, it’ll be worth it.

On Father’s Day, I may shed a tear. But more importantly, I’ll have a smile on my face. This daddy’s little princess had enough memories packed into 16 years to help me get through my lifetime. I look on the positive side and know that I would rather have that then 60 years of no memories, no laughter, and no positives.

Remember, sometimes the grain of salt is necessary in life. I mean, you can’t take a tequila shot without the salt.

This isn’t my way of having a pity party by any means, this is just my way of pointing out that we need to be mindful of what we say and what we do. Cherish your loved ones and always be thankful for the memories and who you have in your life.

“Dirty Rush” – True depiction of sorority life?

This is a sponsored post. However, all opinions are my own.

Thank you to Total Sorority Move, Total Fraternity Move, and Shelton Interactive for the opportunity.

Oh hello, my fabulous readers!

Have you been looking for a summer book to read? Well drop whatever you’re doing – and yes, I mean everything- because I have just the book for you!

Babe Walker and Taylor Bell have brought to the world the most hilarious book out there (after Babe’s other books, of course). It’s what every girl who read the TFM book is looking for. It’s called Dirty Rush and will have you laughing until you loose five pounds.

tsm1

The novel follows Taylor Bell as she goes Greek.

Taylor never wanted to go Greek – and she especially never wanted to go BZ. The legacy wanted to not fall into the footsteps of her sister, mother, and grandmother of becoming a Beta Zeta. However, after meeting the most fun girls she has ever met, Taylor decided maybe Greek life isn’t what she thought it would be.

Well, Taylor seems to be very wrong… very, very wrong. I mean more wrong than wearing white before Memorial Day weekend or trying to rock a Juicy Couture velour sweatsuit in 2015.

Taylor’s fairy tale of Greek life becomes an X-rated Kardashian-style nightmare before you can even shotgun a beer. After a very risque video of what seems to be Taylor has gone viral, all of the hard work (partying) she has put into becoming a BZ may have been worth nothing.

Overall, Dirty Rush left me flipping every page and wondering what was going to happen next. It was a pretty easy read because I was constantly curious as to what was going to happen next. The entire time I was laughing til my water-proof mascara was streaking down my face. I recommend it for anyone who wants a good laugh and not necessarily someone who is looking for a true portrayal of Greek life.

Greek life for me hasn’t been an X-rated Kardashian-style nightmare- sorry readers. However, I can connect to Taylor on one level – that it is my sorority sisters who will always have my back – no matter what kind of trouble, heartbreak, or adventure I find myself facing. Taylor is quick to call up a sister, at any time of day or night, and they will be there. Her sisters will be there with love and unconditional support. They are there for more than just throwing what you know on Instagram pictures or long heart-to-hearts in frat bathroom’s that you’ll barely remember the next day.

They’re there for the long-haul and all the Grateful Deads.

tsm12

Because remember, sorority sisterhood blood is thicker than even the most expensive vodka.

Fresh faced lazy days, thanks to Seventeen Magazine and L’Oreal

This is a post on behalf of my contractual membership with “Seventeen Magazine” for the Seventeen Magazine Social Club.

17 social club

Some days are just lazy days- am I right readers, or am I right?

I don’t want to put on my full face of makeup, do my hair, and every other task it takes to get ready. Some days I want to just throw on a baseball cap, like my favorite from Vineyard Vines, throw on some foundation, and call it a day. Thanks to L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation I can do just that while looking and feeling fresh faced!

loreal paris foundationThe foundation went on so smoothly and gave me an airbrushed finish. It gave me the appearance of having flawless skin, without even being able to tell that I had makeup on.

loreal paris

This drug store foundation worked just as well as some of the much more expensive department store foundations I have used in the past. All the expensive foundations promise this same airbrush finish that you can now get for half the price at any local drug store.

Now I just can’t wait to wear it for a night out and feel as glamorous as as a Kardashian.

Thanks, Seventeen!

What time is it? SUMMERTIME!

What time is it?
Summertime, it’s our vacation
What time is it?
Party time, that’s right, say it loud

What time is it?
The time of our lives, anticipation
What time is it?
Summertime, school’s out scream and shout!!

So no, readers, I am, unfortunately, not staring in a new High School Musical.

I am, however, just excited to be able to finally start my summer vacation!!

I have been done with finals for about two weeks now, but I didn’t get to completely come home for the summer until the start of this week.

Every year, Quinnipiac hosts a “Senior Week” for it’s graduating class. It’s one last goodbye party for the seniors – a booze-filled week, jamming in as many last minute memories (or stories, if you don’t remember) as possible. So, it’s pretty much heaven.

But to make sure those senior devils stay alive until graduation, heaven need a few junior angels to babysit them. Myself and 29 other juniors were selected to go as Junior Crew to chaperon and execute the events. Based on that description, it may not sound like fun. However, it was by far one of the most fun weekends I had at Quinnipiac.

senior week

But following this meant facing reality and the dreaded g-word…..graduation. Some of my best friends just graduated – a handful of people who helped me fall in love with Quinnipiac, Alpha Delta Pi, journalism, and myself. I watched people who I couldn’t imagine my college career without take their diploma that they have worked so hard for. At times, it was even a punch in the gut that there is more to life outside of the Quinnipiac bubble and that life, is the real world.

BUT MY BIG COMES BACK NEXT YEAR TO COMPLETE HER M.B.A! So I am still lucky enough to have my partner in crime in Hamden and don’t have to worry just yet about saying that goodbye. (Even though I have cried a handful of times as people remind me that Katherine is coming back. It’s just the whole principal and concept of graduation, you know? It got me.)

kath grads

Now, I’m back home in the most perfect state of New Jersey. Between continuing to intern for TheCelebrityCafe.com and work at CVS, I will be really focusing on Sparkle and Shine this summer.

Somehow this summer, my baby turns two. I’ve seen so much progress since I first sat down behind my laptop and created it. This summer, I want to continue expanding and continue to create my opportunities for myself. I have tons of e-mails to go through of sponsored post opportunities, different partnerships, and more. Through these e-mails, I will continue to build up Sparkle and Shine – and nothing makes me happier than watching my baby grow.

Stay with me, readers, as Sparkle and Shine shines as bright as the summer sun.
