Cause baby, now they’ve got bad blood…. {My opinion on the Tay Swift v. KimYe drama}

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

So, unless you’re literally Patrick Star and live under a rock, you know about the Tay Swift v. KimYe drama that’s happened for about a week now.

(Just in case, I’ll fill you in – Kanye released a provocative lyric about Taylor. Kanye just being Kanye, ya know? After backlash, the “Life of Pablo” singer took to  Twitter claiming Tay gave him permission to use the lyric after an hour long phone call. Well, the queen of breakup jams fired back claiming to never have known. Wife-of-the-Year Kim decided to prove Taylor did give consent by posting a recording of the hour long phone call on her Snapchat Story).

I’ve been texted and tweeted about asking for my opinion. Originally, I was planning on doing a video blog about it, but life has gotten in the way and I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I don’t want to leave you waiting any longer, so I figured just a classic blog post. (Don’t worry though, I’ve been brain storming some vlog ideas!)

You’ve asked and I’m here now to answer….

Screen Shot 2016-07-26 at 8.15.43 PM.png

Okay, so first off, I want to preface this by saying that I am both a Kardashian fan and a TaySwift fan. I’ve seen Taylor in concert twice and start my morning by watching the Kardashian/Jenner’s Snapchat stories. I blast Taylor often for mini karaoke sessions in my car and will truly keep up with the Kardashians by following them on social media and binge-watch KUWTK.

And going off of those confessions, I’m going to confess that lying is one of my biggest pet peeves. Growing up, our biggest household rule was to never lie. If you messed up, admit it. It was always better to just have open and honest communication. Guess that wasn’t necessarily the case for Tay (harsh? Sorry, I haven’t had enough coffee today).

Openly lying really made me loose some respect for Taylor. She’s always gone where others weren’t before – not afraid to bash her ex in a song and leave some sort of proof in the capital letters on her CD, openly tell Ellen about her break up with Joe Jonas, and shed light on her “Bad Blood” with Katy Perry. She seemed to be confident to take on any confrontation, but it seems it was only when she was the one who had the upper hand…..

In the conversation with Kanye, Taylor said “…jokes on them…” referring to backlash when fans start to raise their eyebrows about the song and her knowing. I think it would have been more of a “girl boss” move, that Tay tries for, if she was just like “YUP, Kanye told me and I’m blasting this song nonstop at my Rhode Island mansion with my BFF squad on the Fourth of July.” Mad respect with the latter, but that’s not how things happened. Instead, she’s got some teardrops on her guitar for the backlash she is receiving from everyone on the Internet.

In the mess of this, I also think Kim deserves a lot of props, hey, a Wife-of-the-Year certificate or another wall of flowers from Kanye. She stood up for her man and made sure to be his biggest supporter, even when times got tough. Isn’t that what love is all about?

Next up on expressing my opinion, the social media that occurred after.

Screen Shot 2016-07-26 at 9.20.12 PM.png

The only comment I have for Taylor’s Instagram note, especially seeing as everyone with a Twitter account has commented on it with a meme, is in regard to her “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of.” That statement in itself, when reading it the first time, made me laugh as hard as I do at “Modern Family.” Like Tay, w h a t? That sounds like the type of babble a girl starts to say after a few too many glasses of Barefoot.  There were so many different ways you could have said that. Using those words just made it much more easier for fans to side with Kim and Kanye. However, the tweets with this statement, were what the trendy, cool kids call “lit.”

As for the way Tay’s Girl Squad stepped in, I’m not surprised. If someone where to expose one of my best friends or even do anything to put them in negative light, I would be there to support them in any way, shape, or form. And for Hollywood….that means Twitter.

And just the same way that Khloe, Kendall, and the rest of the Kardashian/Jenners stepped in to support Kim. BFFs are pretty much the same thing as siblings, so of course each side’s squad jumped in.

And that concludes everything I would have said in a video blog, except this time I’m wearing my glasses and a not-messy-on-purpose messy bun. But like I said, I promise I’m going to work on a new video blog soon!!!!

B U T: moral of the story, SparkNotes version for ya’ll- Am I going to stop listening to Taylor, even though I lost a little bit of respect for her in the situation? Absolutely not. Real fans are there for her music, where there is no doubt that she’s relatable and talented.

But for now, I’m just going to wait for Tay to release a song bashing the Reality Queen and use “I would like to excluded from this narrative” to boys at the bars.signature 22222

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22!

Well, readers, I now know what Taylor Swift meant when she said that she was happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time because I am now 22!

On Tuesday, I celebrated the anniversary of my 21st birthday, or as some would call it, my 22nd birthday.

I started the celebration on Monday, traveling into my favorite place, New York City, with some of my closest friends. There, we wandered around, took in the sights, went to a Hookah lounge, and ate at The Sugar Factory.

The Sugar Factory, known for their 60 oz. candy-themed drinks, gourmet ice cream sandwiches, and sugary sweetness, has been on my bucket list since turning 21. I decided that making it the venue for my 22nd birthday dinner would be the perfect time to cross it off the bucket list!

1934069_10156737486710360_7341797641795996121_nThe following day, on my actual birthday, I popped champagne, went out to breakfast for the infamous Jersey favorite, Taylor Ham, with some friends from both home and school, spent the day with my best friend from school, and then went out to dinner with him and my mom. The celebrations didn’t end cause the evening was filled with my favorite cupcakes and favorite wine.

And how did I spend my first official day as a 22 year old? In bed, hungover, napping, and watching Gossip Girl. Maybe 22 really is turning me into a grandma already…

While the rest of the 22-year-old adventures continue, make sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter to see what’s happening next!

Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream

Hey readers!

So, I decided to switch it up this week and let you know more about in me in a way other than My Monday Musts! While recently browsing through the blog of fellow Her Campus blogger, Brittany of Southern Soul, I came across her answers to the 1989 tag post.

Now, I’ve never seen this tagged post before. So when I saw it yesterday morning, I just knew that I had to do it! It combined my sixteen year old self’s Facebook note obsession, where all the answers had extraaa letttters for no reasonnnn (glad I got passed the phrase or blogging would be a pain in the butt for me to write and for you to read!) and love for Taylor Swift!

I didn’t get tickets for her 1989 concert, though I did see her RED Tour two years ago today and had floor seats to her Speak Now tour. I even got a hug from her during the Speak Now tour, which was probably the greatest moment of my life! So I thought to honor the legendary T Swift’s 1989 tour, I would participate in this tag instead!

(psssst – Before you continue to read, make sure you follow me on Instagram! Brittany and I are in the process of planning something super cool for our Instagram followers and will correlate with Sparkle and Shine’s second blogiversary!)

1. WELCOME TO NEW YORK
If you could live in any city, which would it be and why?
I’ve always, always, always been obsessed with L.A. My tumblr is filled with pictures of there and I often set my background to different palm tree backgrounds of L.A. I find online. I just think that Los Angeles would have the most amazing vibe and I really want to spend sometime out there exploring one day!
2. BLANK SPACE
What is something that everyone thinks is true about you but is actually false?
Hmmm…to be honest, I don’t really know. After a little time thinking, the only thing that I could come up with is that maybe people think I’m not fun because I’m an RA? Which is totally not true! I know that answer is lame, but I seriously don’t know what to put!
3. STYLE
What is one item in your closet that makes you feel unstoppable?
My favorite pair of black wedges from Steve Madden! I wear them to go out dancing, to meetings, and so many other places since they are just classic black wedges. I’ve rocked so many different events and occasions in those wedges, so when I put them on, I feel like a totally bad you-know-what and am ready to conquer anything!

4. OUT OF THE WOODS

What is one thing that you’re afraid of?

I actually have a really big fear of thunderstorms…. and when it happens at night and the power goes out, I might get so scared I could cry.

5. ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAY
Who is someone you wish was still in your life?
I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason and all that jazz. So, I truly think that people come and go into your life for a reason, no matter how big or small. So, I can honestly say that I am so happy with who I have in my life right now and wouldn’t change it for a thing. Seriously though, no ragrets.
6. SHAKE IT OFF
What is something you have had to shake off?
This kind of goes against number two in a way, but what other people think! I honestly believe that everyone – especially around my age – care, or at least think, about what other people think of them. I think high school and college students are often encompassed by gossip and what others have to say. However, there comes a time in your life when you need to just shake off what the say. Say like queen T-Swizzle says, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate!
7. I WISH YOU WOULD
What is something you’d like to happen right now?
I wish I had enough time right now to accomplish everything I need to do on my to-do list AND have enough time to binge watch Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix!!
8. BAD BLOOD
Have you ever had someone stab you in the back?
I’m not going to lie – of course, I have. Hasn’t everyone?
9. WILDEST DREAMS
What would you like to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered for working hard and doing so with class and respect. I want people to feel like I was nice and respected them. One of Taylor’s quotes really sums up the legacy I want to leave behind. She says, “No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.”
10. HOW YOU GET THE GIRL
What is your favourite pick-up line?
” I seem to have lost my phone number. Can I have yours?”
In the 8th grade my friend and I Googled pick up lines and I just always found that one to be funny. Though I’ve never used it, I think I would give my number to a boy who used it  on me! Wink, wink!
11. THIS LOVE
What is something you got back that you never thought you would?

I mean, when I was little my dog used to run out of our house and then sit outside our neighbors house a few yards away and wait for us. He always waited for us to come and get him, so that was really nice.

(Can you tell I had no idea what to write?)

12. I KNOW PLACES
Where is one place you always feel safe?
With my mom! My mom is my rock and she always makes me feel safe and happy.
13. CLEAN
What is an important lesson you have learned in life, and how did you learn it?
I’ve learned in life that you need to play the cards that you are dealt in life. My mom and I always said this since my daddy passed and it means that you can’t change what happens in your life. Sometimes sucky things happen and you need to keep rolling with the punches!
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed answers the questions!!signature 22222

Top Instagrams of the Month: November & December 2014

Hey, readers!

So as I’m being a good blogger and planning out posts and graphics for the next few weeks, I realized I made a blogging mistake. Yikes…

I realized I didn’t share with you my top Instagram posts from November and December!

In the beginning of 2014, I started by sharing my top Instagram posts each month with you to show you what I do when I’m not blogging and how I am living a sparkling life. I realized I forgot both November and December, so without further ado, check out my adventures from November and December from my Instagram account!

November:

I was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national School of Communication honor society, the day after my sorority semi formal.

December: top insta nov 3

And I honored my guardian angel, my daddy, by wishing him a happy birthday. I’m sure he partied it up in Heaven with more cake and cupcakes than words in this post.

December:

And to celebrate the end of the semester and having to separate from each other for a full four months, my big, little, and g-little all went out to a local Mexican restaurant. Ixtapa had a Christmas tree set up in the corner, so the Bad Girls Club decided to take the opportunity to get a true family Christmas picture. Feliz navi-diamonds!

My Monday Musts {Taylor Swift’s 1989 Album Released}

Happy Monday, readers!

Everyone out there should be having a great Monday! Why? Because Taylor Swift’s newest album was released at midnight! The excitement was equivalent to Christmas Morning or Bid Day.

The discography for the album is:

  1. “Welcome to New York”
  2. “Blank Space”
  3. “Style”
  4. “Out of the Woods”
  5. “All You Had to Do Was Stay”
  6. “Shake it Off”
  7. “I Wish You Would”
  8. “Bad Blood”
  9. “Wildest Dreams”
  10. “How You Get the Girl”
  11. “This Love”
  12. ” I Know Places”
  13. “Clean”

After staying up all night listening to the album, subtweeting some of the lyrics, and possibly crying over the perfection of the album was the perfect way to start the Monday.

As for the rest of my week, let’s hope it continues to be as amazing as the new album. With my sorority’s masquerade themed semi formal and Halloween this week, I can’t see how it won’t be. Stay with “Sparkle and Shine” to learn more about the events by following me on Twitter, Instagram, or liking Sparkle and Shine’s Facebook page!

I hope you all have an amazing week, as well! Keep sparkling!

My Monday Musts

Happy Monday, readers!

Hope you all had a fabulous week and weekend!

Now that I am getting back into the swing of school again (and by that I mean clubs, meetings, homework, RA life, and everything in between), I finally am back to sharing My Monday Musts with you.

No need for me to give a play-by-play because I know you just absolutely can’t wait to hear what this week’s musts are, so I’m going to jump right into them. Hope you’re pumped because I am! YAY!

1. Entertainment Anchor

Last school year, I shared all with you about how I was the weather girl for my school’s newstation, Q30. Well, this year I am now the Entertainment Anchor! I love celebrity and celebrity gossip (#sorrynotsorry) and can’t wait to share what is going on in Hollywood with my fellow Bobcats. I’ll be posting the newscasts whenever they’re up so you can all watch it. Watch out Giuliana Rancic because I’ll soon be taking over the Red Carpet! BYE FELICIA!

“Shake It Off” By Taylor Swift

I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan – as you may remember based on one of my beginning blog posts about going to a concert for T. Swift’s “Red” tour. Well, Swift released a new song recently and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since. “Shake It Off” is an anthem for being you and not caring what others say – just shake it off! Swift reminds listeners to do their own thing, be themselves, and just let the haters hate, hate, hate.

3. Criminal Minds on Netflix

Everyone needs a show to binge watch on Netflix. I’ve finished Orange is the New BlackDawson’s Creek, and Greek.  I’ve seen pretty much every episode of Criminal Minds because I’m obsessed. However, I’ve never seen them in order. Thanks to the Netflix gods, I will now be binge watching all 9 seasons of the greatest show ever. Time to feed into my addiction when I’m at the gym, getting ready to sleep, and have a few spare minutes by watching my favorite crime solving group!

Have a great week, readers! I have many exciting posts scheduled to come up in the next few weeks, including many posts thanks to Seventeen Magazine! WOOHOO!

Keep sparkling!

Taylor Swift’s RED Tour – July 13, 2013

Taylor Swift told her concert goers at her July 13 MetLife Stadium performance, apart of her RED tour, that she just had to perform somewhere where she knew the fans would be absolutely out of control on July 13th. Swift continued to tell her fans, as any Swift fan would know, that 13 is her lucky number and July is her favorite month. When Taylor explained this, the fans in the crowd went wild.

photo (7)

One of those screaming Swift fans, who spent their night belting out the lyrics to their favorite songs was myself. I was the concert with two of my friends, Kate and Tori. Every single one of the performers of the evening proved how talented they truly are, making it one of the best concerts I have been to.

photo (6)

One of the first opening acts was up-and-coming country singer Joel Crouse. All of the girls in the audience instantly started swooning over the country cutie when he came on stage. I’ve been to concerts when the first opening act comes on stage and barely gets any attention. However, it was much different for Crouse. He was able to catch the attention of everyone in the audience with his singing, including his recently debuted on iTunes song “If You Want Some.” I look forward to what Crouse will do in the future. He’s definitely going to be famous and I will be telling everyone I heard him in concert first (just like I did when I first heard the Jonas Brothers at an Aly&AJ concert in 2005).

DSCN3022

After Crouse came on, seventeen year old Austin Mahone performed. I was so excited for Mahone’s opening act performance. His songs are just so catchy and upbeat, I often find myself listening to them, singing them, and then knowing all of the words. Mahone, just like Crouse, is definitely an up-and-coming star! Not only was Mahone super talented as a singer, he also is an extremely talented dancer! Mahone was able to put on a good show for the little bit of time he was on stage. Not to mention, he performed Jesse McCartney’s “Beautiful Soul” which had every girl in the audience wanting more!

photo (9)

The next performer of the evening was Ed Sheeran. I’ll be honest, I’m not really a Sheeran fan. I know “Lego House” and “The A Team” from singing along to in the car because they came on the radio, but I’ve never heard another song other than those. I really just know him because of those two songs, and since he has written a few One Direction songs. One thing is for sure, however – Sheeran is a performer! Any member of the crowd could tell that Sheeran was putting his heart and soul into the performance (he even broke a guitar!) which really drew in the attention. When talking to the crowd, he really knew how to gauge his audience’s attention. Though I did not walk away a newly obsessed Sheeran fan, I did walk away knowing that he is extremely talented and a great performer live.

photo (8)

After all the opening acts were over, that meant one thing and one thing only, Taylor Swift was set to perform next. With this being my second concert of hers, I was so excited to see the amazing performance Swift would put on this time. I had originally saw her in 2010 during her Speak Now tour. She blew me away with her performance last time, that I knew that she was going to do a phenomenal job this time, as well.

Swift opened up the show with “State of Grace.” The music played on for a while, with Swift’s silhouette hidden behind a red curtain., hyping up the crowd. Finally, the red curtain fell to the ground, causing Swift to appear. The crowd busted out in screams, cheers, and applause before everyone started singing along to the first song of the night.

DSCN3037

Swift continued the show singing, in order, “Holy Ground,” “Red,” and “You Belong With Me.” Swift then sat down on the front of the stage, and started to discuss her days of being bullied. She spoke words of empowerment for those in the audience who face any form of bully, or someone who is mean. One of my favorite parts of Swift’s concerts is when she talks to the crowd because she really knows how to connect with them. Each word she picks comes out powerful and strong. Swift talked for a few minutes before singing “Mean.”

DSCN3044

Then, before singing “Stay,” Swift threw in a sassy comment, saying how though she is known for break up songs and songs about the guy leaving, she sometimes writes songs for the guy to stay. Swift then combined the song with Lumineer’s “Ho Hey.”

DSCN3046

Swift then sang “22,” one of the hit’s from her “RED” album. During this song, Swift was transported by her dancers to the B stage, a smaller stage situated at the opposite end of the stadium. After “22,” Swift then sang one of my all time faves, “Should’ve Said No.” Swift told the audience that a girl during her meet and greet had requested her to perform this. I freaked out. Like I said, this is one of my all time favorite songs ever since I saw Swift perform it last at her 2010 concert. I have to admit, I think I scream/sang along the most to this song during the entire concert. I absolutely love Taylor Swift throwback songs!

DSCN3064

Ed Sheehran then came back out to help Swift sing, “Everything has Changed.” Swift then continued to sing “Begin Again” and my “Speak Now” favorite, “Sparks Fly.”

Swift then told the audience that she had a surprise guest! Patrick Stump, from Fall Out Boy, then came out! Swift and Stump then sang FOB’s recent hit “My Songs Know What You Did in The Dark (Light ‘Em Up).”

DSCN3075

Swift then asked all audience members to hold their phones up in the air. With thousands upon thousands of audience members doing so, it was such an incredible experience to see. It was really cool to see so many strangers join in something all together. Swift and Stump both tweeted about the experience later that evening.

DSCN3079

Swift then had another customer change and came out singing, “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

DSCN3088

Taylor Swift then sat down at her piano to sing “Begin Again” and “Treacherous.” Another aspect of Swift performances that make them so great is the emotion that Swift puts in. She puts her all into each song – this is especially noticeable when Swift sings as she plays piano. Each facial expression is magnified so closely on the video screens so every audience member can see Swift’s expressions.

DSCN3095

With another costume change, Swift sang the old time hit, “Love Story.”

DSCN3102

As the final song of the night, Taylor Swift sang “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Swift came out in a sequined ring-leader like costume, singing her heart out. Part of Swift’s stage raised into the area while fireworks exploded from the sides of the stage. In true Taylor Swift concert fashion, the ending of the concert was over the top.

DSCN3117

With my second Taylor Swift concert under my belt, I can honestly say Swift can put on one incredible show!
